Step 3

Fitting a cloth to another character Example 2 (2)

Back Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4

Fitting the pants

17) Reset all (file > new)

Load penny and uncheck everything in figure > Use inverse kinematic.

In window > joint editor, click on zero figure.

Using file > import > wavefront obj, import the pants, unchecking everything in the options.

Using window > parameter dials, scale and move the pants as indicated on the left images.

18) Set your last frame to 10.

Select penny's body and scale it on frame 1 as indicated on the left. Then at frame 10, set all the body scale values to 100%.

In the cloth room, create a new simulation ; set the end frame to 10. Add figure 1 (penny) as cloth collision object in collide against.

Edit the dynamic group, click remove all, and select the top verticies of the pant as in the left image (do this around the whole cloth).

Simulate.

The pants top (our future constrained group) if fitted.

You are now used to the process : beeing on frame 10, save the new obj file unchecking all options.

The second simulation is a little special. Because of the folds, it's very difficult to place penny. Also, the size between the navel and the crotch is very different for the two characters. We will freeze the verticies already moved and peeny will enter the pants by the top.

19) Reset all or delete the simulation, the cloth and the animation, and set penny to her default pose. Set the last frame to 30.

Using file > import > wavefront obj, import the new pants (unckeck all in options).

Select penny's body and on frame 1 scale and move it as shown on the left.

On frame 30, set the scale parameters to 100% and the tran parameters to zero.

20) In the cloth room, create a new 30 frames simulation. Check cloth self-intersection.

Clothify the dress and add figure 1 (penny) as collision object. Check ignore head an hand collisions.

Edit the choreographed group and with the group editor, add the verticies we have already simulated (so they will not move).

Run the simulation.

Again, beeing on frame 30, save your simulated cloth using file > export > wavefront obj, unchecking all options. Then delete the old cloth prop, delete the simulation, delete the animation and set penny in her default position. Using file > import > wavefont obj, load the obj file you just saved.

21) Like for the blouse, we will create a simulation only for the constrained group we want to save with the cloth prop.

Go in the cloth room, create a new simulation, clothify the pants, choose penny as collision object.

Edit the constrained group and select the top verticies of the pants as shown on the left.

Now you can save your pants in the prop directory that you want.

It's time to see what we can do with the sleeves.
